GiveCamp NWA rebrands, receives new website

5 other nonprofits receive free websites at GiveCamp Weekend

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS – GiveCamp Northwest Arkansas, a local nonprofit organization that provides free websites for other nonprofits that serve the NWA region, was its own client for the 2023 GiveCamp Weekend in early October.

“We love our new logo and completely renovated website,” said Chris Whittle, GiveCamp president. “We feel like not only is it a fresh look, the new logo is more fun and inspiring. Even more, our new website helps us with some ongoing communication issues we were having with the old site.”

A spot for GiveCamp NWA to participate in its own event came open when another nonprofit had to withdraw from the event at the last minute. The same happened last year, which is when the rebranding started. Technical difficulties resulted in the final website launch being postponed until this year when some volunteers became available to better incorporate the new branding language and logo, and improve the information on the nonprofit’s new site.

“Volunteers from this year who have seen the new site already are telling us it’s a major improvement from what we had the last few years,” said Board Member Jamie Smith. “While we always hate to lose a nonprofit participant at the last minute, this gave us the opportunity to get some help ourselves.”

GiveCamp NWA hosts an annual event now referred to as GiveCamp Weekend on the first weekend of October every year. From Friday night through Sunday afternoon, teams of volunteers from the creative industries work one-on-one with selected nonprofits to build them a new website and, sometimes, related technology resources such as a new logo or social media presence. GiveCamp NWA is planning to host several “mini GiveCamp Weekends” that will serve only one nonprofit as opposed to the usual 5-8 that take part in October.
